She founded and led the Education Network to Advance Cancer Clinical Trials (ENACCT) for over 10 years. Bringing over 25 years of progressive leadership in consumer and patient advocacy organizations, the National Cancer Institute, state government and consulting, she has a strong commitment to social change through effective and meaningful community engagement around health care issues.
Michaels was selected to serve on the inaugural Clinical Trials Advisory Panel of the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (2013-17). She has co-authored 27 peer-reviewed publications around clinical trials recruitment and consumer engagement, and holds an MPH from UNC Chapel Hill School of Public Health.
